Handy Tips for Using the 100-Piece Diode Assortment Kit:
1: A diode only allows current to flow in one direction — always check the polarity before inserting it into a circuit. The cathode (negative end) is marked with a stripe band on the diode body. In a circuit diagram, current flows from anode (+) to cathode (–).
2: The IN4148 is a fast-switching signal diode ideal for logic circuits, clipping, and clamping. It is not rated for mains or high-current rectification — use the IN4007 or IN5408 for those applications instead.
3: The IN5819 is a Schottky diode with a very low forward voltage drop (~0.3V), making it the best choice for circuits where power efficiency matters — such as battery-powered projects, reverse polarity protection, and flyback protection on relay coils.
4: When using diodes as rectifiers in power supply circuits, always check the Peak Inverse Voltage (PIV) of your circuit and ensure the diode's rated voltage is comfortably higher than the peak voltage it will experience.
5: The diodes in this kit are through-hole components and are fully compatible with standard 2.54mm pitch breadboards, perfboard, and PCBs. Each type is individually bagged for easy identification and storage.
