Handy Tips

1. Low-profile design — At only 4.3mm total height with a 0.8mm actuator, the DTS61R sits extremely close to the PCB surface — ideal for slim enclosures, wearables, and space-constrained builds where the taller DTS65R (9.5mm) would not fit.
2. 4-pin through-hole layout — Like other 6x6mm tactile switches, the 4 legs form 2 electrically connected pairs. Pins 1&2 are one side of the switch and pins 3&4 are the other, giving excellent mechanical stability on the PCB while only requiring one pair per side for a basic SPST connection.
3. Normally Open by default — The switch is open at rest and closes only while pressed. For microcontroller use, connect one side to your GPIO pin and the other to GND, and enable the internal pull-up resistor in your code to avoid a floating input state.
4. Debounce in software — All mechanical tactile switches produce contact bounce on press and release. Add a 10–50ms debounce delay in Arduino, ESPHome, or MicroPython to prevent false multiple triggers from a single button press.
5. 0.8mm actuator requires direct PCB access — The very short 0.8mm actuator height means this switch is best used where the button is accessed directly through a small panel cutout flush with the PCB, or paired with a custom 3D printed actuator extension to make it reachable through a thicker enclosure wall.
6. 50mA rating is signal-level only — This switch is designed strictly for logic and signal switching. Do not use it to directly switch motors, solenoids, or LED strips — use it as a trigger input to a microcontroller GPIO, MOSFET, or relay instead.
7. Soldering tip — The low-profile body sits very close to the PCB, making heat dissipation through the legs slower. Solder quickly with a clean, well-tinned iron tip to avoid prolonged heat exposure that can warp the casing or bind the actuator mechanism.
