Handy Tips

1. 4-pin through-hole layout — The DTS65R has 4 legs arranged in a 6x6mm footprint. Internally the 4 pins form 2 pairs — pins 1&2 are one side of the switch and pins 3&4 are the other. You only need one pair per side for a basic SPST connection, giving the switch excellent PCB stability and mechanical anchoring.
2. Normally Open by default — The switch circuit is open (no continuity) at rest and closes only while the button is pressed. For use as a reset, trigger, or mode button in microcontroller projects, connect one side to GPIO and the other to GND, and enable the internal pull-up resistor in your code.
3. Debounce in software — Like all mechanical tactile switches, the DTS65R will produce contact bounce on press and release. Add a 10–50ms software debounce delay in Arduino or ESPHome to prevent false multiple triggers on a single press.
4. 50mA rating is signal-level only — This switch is designed for logic and signal switching, not load switching. Do not use it to directly switch motors, relays, or LED strips — use it to trigger a MOSFET, relay, or microcontroller GPIO instead.
5. 260gf actuation force is firm and tactile — The relatively firm actuation force makes the DTS65R resistant to accidental activation, making it a good choice for reset buttons, mode selectors, and user input buttons on enclosure-mounted PCBs.
6. Height consideration for enclosures — At 9.5mm total height, account for the button protrusion above your PCB when designing or selecting an enclosure. A standard 6mm momentary cap fits the actuator and reduces the required panel cutout depth.
7. Soldering tip — The through-hole legs are short. Pre-tin the pads, insert the switch flush against the PCB, and solder quickly to avoid heat-soaking the plastic body which can cause the actuator to bind or the casing to warp.
