Handy Tips for Using the PTFE Tube Joiner:
This fitting is an inline tube-to-tube joiner — it has push-fit collet connections on both ends, allowing two lengths of 4mm OD PTFE tube to be joined end-to-end. It is used to repair a cut or damaged Bowden tube, extend an existing run, or create a custom length from two shorter pieces without replacing the entire tube.
For a reliable join, always ensure the cut ends of the PTFE tube are clean and perfectly square before inserting them into the coupler. Use a sharp hobby knife or dedicated PTFE tube cutter — a clean, flat, perpendicular cut ensures the tube seats fully against the internal stop with no gap. Any gap between the two tube ends inside the coupler can cause filament to snag, jam, or string during printing.
To insert the PTFE tube, push each end firmly and straight into the collet until it seats fully against the internal stop. To release, press the collet release collar down toward the fitting body while simultaneously pulling the tube out. Never pull the tube without depressing the collet first — this damages the collet teeth and causes the joiner to lose its grip over time.
Keep the number of inline joiners in your Bowden path to a minimum. Each joiner introduces a potential weak point where the tube can loosen under retraction forces. If a longer Bowden tube is needed, replacing the entire tube with the correct length is preferable to using multiple joiners in series. A single joiner for a repair or minor extension is perfectly acceptable.
This coupler is rated to 260°C — suitable for standard printing materials including PLA, PETG, TPU, and ABS. However, at sustained temperatures above 240°C, the internal collet can soften and lose grip. For high-temperature filaments such as Nylon, PC, or ASA printed at consistently high temperatures, inspect the joiner regularly and replace it at the first sign of loosening or tube slippage.
