Handy Tips for Using the USB Type-C 2-Pin Female Socket Connector:
This is a 2-pin power-only connector — it carries VBUS (5V positive) and GND only. It does not include the CC, D+, D−, or SBU pins found on full USB Type-C connectors, meaning it cannot negotiate USB Power Delivery (PD), transfer data, or support fast charging protocols. It is designed purely as a clean, modern 5V DC power inlet for DIY builds, small appliances, and low-power electronics projects.
Despite having a USB Type-C shaped socket, this connector is not interchangeable with full USB-C functionality. Any standard USB-C cable will physically fit and deliver 5V power correctly, but the cable's data and PD negotiation lines will simply be unconnected. This is perfectly safe and intentional — the socket provides a universally compatible, reversible power input without the complexity of full USB-C implementation.
The connector is rated for 3A at 5V (15W maximum). This is sufficient for powering desk lamps, mini fans, LED strips, small motors, Arduino/ESP32 projects, and most low to medium power DIY appliances. For loads approaching 3A, ensure your wiring from the solder pads uses an appropriate wire gauge — 24AWG for up to 0.5A, 22AWG for up to 1A, and 20AWG or heavier for loads above 1A.
When soldering to the two pads, observe correct polarity — the positive pad (VBUS) connects to your circuit's positive supply rail and the negative pad (GND) connects to ground. Reversing polarity will damage any connected electronics instantly. Use a fine-tipped soldering iron, apply flux, and keep the solder joint brief — excessive heat can warp the plastic housing or damage the internal contact springs of the connector.
The black and white colour options allow the connector to match the aesthetic of your enclosure or appliance. The connector is designed for panel mounting — cut or drill an appropriately sized cutout in your enclosure panel, fit the socket from the rear, and secure with the mounting hardware provided. Ensure the panel cutout is clean and the socket sits flush for a professional finished appearance that is indistinguishable from a factory-built appliance.
